Paresh Rawal says he is ‘sick and tired’ of his Baburao image, wants to get rid of it – Times of India

Paresh Rawal has delivered several ace acts on the silver screen, however his most loved performance is that of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte. He played the iconic role in ‘Hera Pheri’ and ‘Hera Pheri 2’. However, in a recent interview, Paresh Rawal expressed that he is sick and tired of the memes and reels made out of his character. Speaking to a news portal, the seasoned actor said that with ‘Hera Pheri 2’, everyone was trying to be over smart and it did not work. Paresh Rawal further stated that only Suniel Shetty was earnestly doing his thing and hence he stood out in the movie. The actor concluded stating that there was no innocence left, it had got all too dirty and that he wants to get rid of the Baburao image.

‘Hera Pheri’ released in 2000 and was directed by Priyadarshan. It starred Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Tabu and Suniel Shetty in lead roles with Tabu and Asrani essaying pivotal parts. The sequel, ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ released in 2006 and was directed by Neeraj Vora. The makers had announced a third part in the franchise but it is yet to go on floors.

In an earlier interaction with ETimes, when Suniel Shetty was asked if ‘Hera Pheri’ reboot will happen, he had shared, “Of course! Absolutely! Because Babu Bhai, Shyam, Raju can have a problem anytime of their life whatever age it may be. The thing is I think we understand cinema more, probably better actors even today and also we are very good friends you know. We have a lot of respect for each other and so I think it works like magic and I am looking forward to it. It will happen and whenever it does I know it will happen.”
