Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepika Padukone were not approached for ‘The Incarnation – Sita’, says screenplay writer; reveals Kangana Ranaut was the first choice – Times of India

Kangana Ranaut, who is currently enjoying the success of her latest release, ‘Thalaivii’, recently announced her next project. She is all set to be seen as Goddess Sita in a period drama titled ‘The Incarnation – Sita’. Soon after she announced her project, it was being said that Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepika Padukone were also approached for the film.

Recently, in an interview with Free Press Journal, the film’s screenplay writer Manoj Muntashir put the rumours to rest by clarifying that the makers always wanted Kangana to play the lead role. He said that the news of Kareena and Deepika being approached for the film is not true.

The film will be helmed by Alaukik Desai. Speaking about the project, Manoj told the news portal that he is thrilled to have Kangana playing Sita’s role. He went on to say that she was on their priority list. He also said that the Sita Devi that they have sketched has various shades and Kangana is the best cast from that point of view. He clarified that the makers never approached anyone else as they wanted Kangana to play the title role.

Manoj also spoke about why they chose Kangana for the film. He said that Kangana has a strong personality and his Sita is not shy or vulnerable. He added that the actress believes in the character of Sita. But with other actresses, one will have to make them understand the DNA of Sita.

Earlier, there were reports that Kareena had demanded Rs. 12 crore to play Sita’s role. Soon after the news came out, she was brutally trolled on social media for asking a whopping amount for a film.

Director Alaukik Desai earlier said in a statement, “Universe does help those who surrender to it with belief. What was a mirage, is now clarity. A dream of a pious character never explored is now a reality. I am ecstatic to bring Kangana Ranaut on board as SITA. This pious journey will change the course of how we perceive our mythology. Thank you SS Studio for your immense support and belief.”
