Saira Banu’s grandniece Sayyesha pens an emotional note for her ‘Phuponana’ Dilip Kumar; says ‘It’s an end of an era’ – Times of India


Bollywood lost one of the most legendary actors on Wednesday as Dilip Kumar breathed his last at a hospital in Mumbai. He was 98. Soon after the news of his demise broke out, social media filled with heartfelt messages from his fans, friends and B-town celebs. Amongst everyone, Saira Banu’s grandniece and actress Sayyesha penned a beautiful note for Dilip Saab on her Instagram handle.

She also shared a priceless throwback picture with the veteran actor where they can be seen happily dancing together. Sharing the picture with her fans, the actress wrote, “I’m blessed to have spent so much of my childhood with the legend who the world knows as #DilipKumar”

Sayyesha further wrote, “For me he will always remain my warm hearted Phuponana, with whom I sang and danced, learnt so much from and loved to bits! ❤️ It’s an end of an era! #RIP” Have a look:

The news of Dilip Kumar’s demise was confirmed through his Twitter handle. An official statement was posted by his family friend that read, “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return. – Faisal Farooqui”

The last rites of the actor took place around 4.30 pm in Juhu Qabrastan at Santacruz, Mumbai. B-town celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Subhash Ghai and others were seen attending the funeral to pay their last respects. While Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Anupam Kher and others were seen arriving at Dilip ji’s residence to offer condolences.
