Punjab Congress infighting: Navjot Singh Sidhu to meet Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been at loggerheads with Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh and has been vocal about his differences, will meet Rahul Gandhi in Delhi on Tuesday. Sources say that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra could also be present during the meeting.
Sidhu, who quit as a minister from the Punjab cabinet in 2019 after his portfolio was changed, has openly targeted Amarinder Singh, much to the discomfort of the Congress.
Rahul Gandhi has been holding discussions with senior party members and ministers from Punjab to find a solution to the crisis in the state unit.
Incidentally, neither Sonia Gandhi nor Rahul had met Amarinder Singh when he was in Delhi to discuss the party matters with other senior party leaders.
The Congress has also formed a three-member panel to end factionalism and strengthen the party in the state ahead of next year’s assembly elections.
The panel chaired by leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and comprising AICC general secretary incharge of Punjab affairs Harish Rawat and former MP JP Aggarwal has suggested a revamp of the state unit to accommodate all sections.
It submitted its report to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
The panel had asked Amarinder Singh to prepare a roadmap on 18 issues that are pending action on the part of the state government, including action against the land and transport mafia as well as against those involved in the desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib.
