Exclusive! Sajid Khan: ‘Radhe’ is my first solo work after Wajid’s demise and hence a very emotional experience – Times of India

Radhe‘ starring Salman Khan and Disha Patani is just 20 days away from release. The film has been directed by Prabhu Dheva and set to tunes by Sajid Khan of Sajid-Wajid fame, Himesh Reshammiya, Ankit Balhara, and Devi Sri Prasad.

“I can’t explain how much I have missed my brother. ‘Radhe’ is my first solo work after Wajid’s demise; It has been a very emotional experience,” began music director Sajid, when contacted this morning by ETimes. “I have done three songs in the film. The film is a blockbuster and I am very confident about its music.”

Sajid’s younger brother Wajid, who passed away in June last year, was the face of the duo when Sajid-Wajid discussed anything with filmmakers–be it their work or fees. “Salman bhai put an arm around me and said that I shouldn’t worry,” Sajid revealed.

For those who’ve come in late, the trailer of Salman Khan’s upcoming film ‘Radhe’ (releasing digitally and theatrically on May 13, 2021) landed on the Internet this morning and has been well received.

Salman had so much confidence in Sajid that he not only entrusted him with the title song but also asked him to sing it. “Yes, Salman bhai told me that I should sing it. I am going to be given the credits in singing too. Actually, in the past, I have sung bits and pieces of many songs but not taken credits. This is, however, my first full-fledged song.”

Sajid, who’s going with the name Sajid-Wajid in ‘Radhe’, also said that it is he who has worked on the superhit ‘Seeti Maar’ song from Allu Arjun’s 2017 film ‘Duvvada Jagannadham‘ which has reportedly been remade for ‘Radhe’. “Salman bhai had full faith in me. I have given a completely new feel to it,” he said, and added, “Salman bhai and we always worked like a family. Salman bhai has an ear for music and always contributes in the making of the songs. This time was no exception.”

But all said and done, Sajid has not had an easy time on ‘Radhe’. The two brothers were together throughout the day, almost every day. This is evident from his voice as he speaks further and further. “There was a day in during the Aamby Valley shoot I left the sets because there were a lot of people there who were talking about my brother. I couldn’t control my tears. Someone informed Salman that I had left. But I went back because soon Salman was calling me and saying that I should return. I don’t know what more I can say,” Sajid concluded.
